Focus on Natural Highs Healthy Risk Taking

Weekly attendance at Natural Highs Class

 

Counseling and Family Program

Weekly on on one counseling sessions

Group therapy 3-4 times per week

Family sessions 2-4 times per month (in person or by phone)

Development of a Coming Home Contract

 

Relationship Skills

Identifying true friends vs. “frenemies”

Understanding how to get needs met (“The Attachment Cycle”)

School

Job skills and passion projects

 

Wellness

Fitness: Yoga, Cardio workouts, weights (all kids get memberships to the Colorado Athletic Club) and martial arts

Nutrition and cooking classes

Whole foods diet

Oriental and Naturopathic Medicine

 

Wilderness and Travel

3-5 day backpacking, camping, rock climbing, snowshoeing or rafting trips monthly

Occasional cultural immersion trips to New Mexico to meet with Chicano and Native American teens

 

School

12-18 hours per week are dedicated to catching up, keeping up or getting ahead in school.

Most boys get credit for life skills, wellness, exercise and sometimes psychology just from the the Sober Home Curriculum. In addition, there are a variety of options for school depending upon your district and your son’s current situation including:

  • Online public high school
  •  Getting assignments directly from his teachers with a plan to finish them
